Kangaroo Island is still an unspoilt destination, with a wealth of wildlife to observe in their natural habitat. Flinders Chase National Park is well worth a visit, starting at the Flinders Chase Visitor Centre. Your tour of this stunning coastline and wildlife haven should include the Remarkable Rocks, Admirals Arch, Cape du Coudeic Lighthouse and the Ravine des Casoars Wildlife Protection Area.

Take a guided walk of the Seal Bay Conservation Park - enjoy being close to the third largest colony of Australian sea-lions at play. Or enjoy the koala walk at Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary. Nocturnal guided walks are also available. Sand board down the Little Sahara Dunes, visit the Kelly Hill Caves. Try ATV bike riding or kayaking at Vivonne Bay. The Parndana Wildlife Park will give you a fun-filled day out, hand feeding kangaroos and other animals.

On the north coast, visit the Rare Breeds Farm for a highly informative tour of this unusual conservation project. Paul's Place at Stokes Bay is another hands-on animal experience. The KI Marine Centre will give you an insight into the local underwater world, or visit the Penguin Centre at Penneshaw.

While at Stokes Bay, call up to the wonderful Stokes Bay Bush Garden. This amazing three hectare property filled with over 1000 species of Australian natives is a must-see, especially for those interested in horticulture. The bird life it attracts will also amaze visitors.

Rock Pool Cafe at Stokes Bay The Rock Pool Café at Stokes Bay is now open for business 11-5 daily. They have a pleasant and varied menu for a seaside cafe, and will open for an evening meal on request. Friendly and cheerful service.

Enjoy local produce at places like Andermel Marron and Two Wheeler Creek Wines, Island Pure Sheep Dairy, Island Beehive or Cliffords Honey Farm. For fish, try Ferguson Australia, 2 Birds and a Squid or take part in one of the many fishing charters on offer and catch your own meal.

Local wineries include Andermel, Sunset Wines, Bay of Shoals, Dudley Wines, False Cape Wines and others. They offer complimentary tastings, and most serve delicious food or snacks in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Local artists love to display their craft - there are a number of galleries on KI including Roo Lagoon, Emu Ridge Craft and Kangaroo Island Galleries. Jenny Clapson's Art Space in Kingscote is also a must, as is the newly opened Rustic Blue Gallery.

With 480 Km of coastline, it isn't surprising that KI boasts a vast number of beaches - Vivonne Bay has won the top accolade on Sydney University's evaluation. (We feel that Snelling Beach is a well kept secret). Spend lazy days, beachcombing, swimming, snorkelling - or be more adventurous and join dive operators for scuba sport. There are more than 50 shipwrecks off the coast for underwater exploration.

The opportunities for making this the type of holiday you enjoy most are enormous - all you have to do is make your way here!
